According to the Bible, the love of money is the root of all evil. In fact, the saying is true only in certain circumstances.
Practically every day, we need money to buy food, clothing or other necessities of life.
Sometimes, we may need to pay rents or utility bills.
Besides, we often have to set aside some money for a rainy day because there is no telling when something unpleasant will happen to us.
So, how can we not love money if we want to keep our life going? The love of money in itself is not evil. Only ill-gotten money is.
On the other hand, we must remember money is not everything.
Many people still have the illusion that money is the best guarantee of a happy life.
Indeed, we may buy a lot of things to increase our material well-being.
But wealth is never the equivalent of happiness because the latter transcends the former.
We should, therefore, adopt a healthy attitude toward money.
In a word, we need not feel guilty about the pursuit of wealth, but we must keep in mind that money is not everything.
